We are offering two postdoctoral positions to work for the project FETPROACT-EIC-05-2019 ALMA at Champalimaud Foundation, under the supervision of Gonzalo Polavieja and Fernando Martin-Maroto.
The ALMA project is a collaboration with the German Center of Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA), the microelectronics department of the Kaiserslautern University, the Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT), the University Carlos III and the startup Algebraic AI.
The aim of the positions is to develop theory and methods related to an approach to AI based on Model Theory and Abstract Algebra, read here.
Profile of Candidates:
The candidates should have a PhD in Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science and should know Discrete Mathematics or Abstract Algebra or Model Theory or Machine Learning as well as demonstrable programming skills and be willing to develop methods in Machine Learning. **
~ Full-time employment contract for 4 years.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will be conducted in two stages, with an initial selection of the candidates based on the submitted applications, followed by an interview (interviews will be taking place remotely during the second half of July). In the first stage, the candidate’s selection will consist of the evaluation of the scientific and curricular backgrounds of the candidates, to be weighted as follows: motivation letter: 30%; Curriculum Vitae: 70%.
In the second stage, candidates will be shortlisted and invited to take part in an interview. Referees will be contacted only at this stage.
The selection committee is composed of Gonzalo Polavieja (Chair) and Fernando Martin Maroto (Member). All applicants will be informed of the final outcome at the end of the recruitment process.
