About the centre

The Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre (BCPCC), located on the spectacular waterfront campus of the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, is a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art facility entirely dedicated to pancreatic cancer. By uniting exceptional clinical care with cutting-edge basic and translational research under one roof, the BCPCC fosters an ecosystem where scientific breakthroughs rapidly translate into patient impact. We are currently expanding our research faculty and seeking highly motivated, visionary early career researchers to join us. Potential candidates would be emerging leaders ready to establish and direct independent research groups focused on understanding, diagnosing, treating or preventing pancreatic cancer. We are looking for scientists and physician-scientists who leverage exciting approaches such as advanced computational, bioengineering, molecular biology or high-resolution tools to tackle complex oncological challenges. Successful candidates will have the possibility to establish dynamic teams, develop highly innovative research programs, and actively engage in the highly collaborative, interdisciplinary culture of the Champalimaud Foundation. 

 

Skills/Qualifications

You should hold an MD/PhD or PhD in a relevant scientific, medical, computational, or engineering discipline, with a stellar postdoctoral track record demonstrating originality, productivity, and the potential for setting up an independent young investigator group. Areas of potential interest may include:

- Work at the interface between AI and pancreatic cancer

- AI - based Foundation Models & Computational Biology

- Digital Pathology & Spatial Profiling 

- Radiomics & Advanced Medical Imaging

- Tissue Engineering & 3D Disease Modeling

- Cellular and Immunological Therapies

- Innovative strategies for early detection and prevention of pancreatic cancer
