About

The Neuroscience of Disease Programme (NDP) at the Champalimaud Foundation is dedicated to bringing scientists and clinicians together to translate discoveries in neuroscience to neurological and psychiatric conditions. While continuing to promote discovery in animal model systems, we will promote the  idea that the human can be considered the next model-system for studying fundamental aspects of movement and cognition, as well as the neurobiology of disease. New technologies such as brain stimulation, exergaming, immersive VR and AR, brain-machine interface, robotics and generative AI hold the promise of non-pharmacological disease-modifying therapies. The goal of the NDP faculty is to be at the forefront of these exciting developments in applied human neuroscience and digital therapeutics.
