Reward and Action in Health and Disease
Projects in this area are developed by Joaquim Alves da Silva, Bernardo Barahona-Corrêa, Ana Fernandes, Gabriela Ribeiro, Pedro Rodrigues and Albino Oliveira-Maia, in close collaboration with the Neurobiology of Action Laboratory as well as other internal and external collaborators such as the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Columbia University and the University of Oxford. Complementary experiments are developed in mouse models, taking advantage of approaches that allow for manipulation and visualisation of neuronal activity in deep brain areas, and in human and clinical models, namely in conditions such as obesity and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
