We are pleased to invite you to submit your abstract to the Champalimaud Research Symposium 2023 - Neuroscience Edition (#CRSy23, #BrainBodyWorld23), taking place on October 24-27, at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, Lisbon, Portugal, with the theme The brain within the body within the world - The neuroscience of the self.
#CRSy23 #BrainBodyWorld23 aims to foster the discussion of how internal states, such as hunger, thirst, and emotion, are generated and regulated by the brain, and how they interact with the body and the external world to drive behaviour.
The symposium will cover a wide range of topics, including the neurobiology of self-awareness, the role of cognitive maps in navigation, and the gut-brain axis in regulating behaviour. The talks will span multiple species, from humans to mice and insects, and will cover a variety of techniques, including electrophysiology, neuroimaging, and molecular biology, providing a forum for researchers to share their latest findings and discuss emerging themes in the field.

Researchers and students have until July 21 to submit their work, which will undergo scientific evaluation to ensure consistency with the topic of the symposium (registration won’t be required at this point).
A limited number of abstracts will be selected for short talks and the remaining abstracts will be invited for poster presentations. Authors will be notified of the results in early August and a limited number of travel grants will be available for those attending the event in-person.

This symposium features an exciting programme that includes talks from internationally renowned speakers (see the list below), selected short presentations, poster sessions and networking & social activities. By bringing together a diverse range of experts, this event aims to deepen the understanding of how the brain generates and regulates internal states, and to identify new avenues for research, collaboration and application.
Participants from all over the world will be welcomed to the #CRSy23 #BrainBodyWorld23 and participate in a lively and stimulating hybrid meeting, either online or in-person at our unique venue.
