Meet the directors of the Champalimaud Foundation
The President of the Board of Directors is Leonor Beleza, who was appointed, with a lifetime mandate, by António Champalimaud in his will. She is joined by João Silveira Botelho and António Horta Osório, under the current mandate (2020-2024). Of the Executive Committee are members Leonor Beleza (President) and João Silveira Botelho (Administrator).

Meet the General Council
The members of the General Council are responsible for determining the guidelines of the ongoing development of the Foundation, and come from different cultural and professional backgrounds. All are highly considered in their respective areas and all are committed to improving people’s well-being. The President of the General Council is Daniel Proença de Carvalho, and in late 2019, The Queen Sofia of Spain joined as an Honorary member.

The Foundation is supervised by a fiscal supervisory board, comprised of a president and two members. Ombuds
The mission of the Champalimaud Foundation Ombuds is to promote an ethical and civic culture within the institution by supporting the implementation of its values and fostering respectful dialogue. The Ombuds listens to concerns, identifies problems, evaluates sensitive situations, and acts as a mediator between parties involved. She also provides advice on where concerns should be directed and mediate conflicts to reach fair and constructive resolutions. Additionally, the Ombuds person plays a preventive role by identifying areas where intervention may be necessary to implement good practices and conduct. Key characteristics of the Ombuds person include independence, confidentiality, neutrality, informality, and accessibility, ensuring they are a reliable resource for all members of the Champalimaud Foundation community.

Zvi Fuks
Zvi Fuks studied at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem (1962). After fulfilling academic functions at Stanford University in California, he was appointed professor and president of the department of radiation and medical oncology at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem (1976-1984). Later, he became president of the department of radiation oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York (1984-1998 and 2004-2005), as well as its Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Planning (1998-2004). Currently, Dr. Fuks is the Director of the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown.
