Festival Cumplicidades - Art-Science Laboratory
Date & Time: May 10th, 6:30pm & May 11th, 5pm
Meeting point: MAAT Gallery (entrance hall)
Duration: 150 minutes
Tickets available here.
The CUMPLICIDADES Festival, in collaboration with MAAT and Bridges to the Unknown, invites seven performing arts artists to a research and artistic creation laboratory, mediated by playwright Alex Cassal. Based on the views of five neuroscientists from the Champalimaud Foundation on the exhibitions by Ana León, Jeff Wall and Rui Moreira currently on show at MAAT, each participant in this laboratory will conceive a short performance, between 8 and 12 minutes, to be presented on the opening weekend of the CUMPLICIDADES Festival, on May 10th and 11th.
The CUMPLICIDADES Laboratory follows its own methodology favoring collaborative work, sharing of creative practices and reflection. It is an opportunity for artists to test deviations from their usual modes of creation and integrate the unique perspectives of five neuroscientists on gesture, movement, mental and bodily states in artistic creation and performance. It is also a unique moment for the public to see proposals that have the freshness of first ideas and the torrential force of 10 days of intense collaborative work.
