Nico Espinoza is a Chilean sound artist currently living in Lisbon. His work critically explores the socio-political tensions between universal abstraction and local experience.

Between 2023 and 2024, Nico was an artist-in-residence at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, as part of the Bridges to the Unknown Art-Science residency program, where he developed interdisciplinary research, in synergy with neuroscientists.

‘Linde’ is the result of the artist's collaborative project with the researcher Alfonso Renart and the ‘Circuit Dynamics & Computation’ laboratory. It is a multichannel minimalist musical piece that explores the thresholds of spatial and auditory perception. Brief fragments of sound emerge and disappear, creating acoustic illusions and sensory displacements in space. The work draws a subtle crossing between presence, absence and perceptual deception in a finite time.

The event will take place at the outdoor amphitheatre of the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown. Entrance is free.
