Applications are welcome for a Research fellowship (Bolsa de Investigação) for a Master’s student to develop their Master’s thesis.
The successful applicant will join our team at Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud (Champalimaud Foundation) in the context of the project entitled “Dissecting the contribution of neurotransmitter systems to neural dynamics in oculomotor circuits” (2023.14640.PEX), funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). According to artº6 n.1 and 2 Fellowship Regulations, the candidate must be registered in a master or enrolled in a course that does not lead to an academic degree.
We are recruiting an individual to work on a project aimed at elucidating the role of different types of neurons in visually guided behaviors. The successful candidate will become familiar with a range of approaches, and perform different steps, including: (1) characterisation of zebrafish transgenic lines using in situ hybridisation or immunohistochemical techniques; (2) imaging experiments in larval zebrafish; (3) behavior experiments; (4) analysis of anatomical images; (5) computational analysis of calcium imaging data. Candidates should have a strong interest in neuroscience, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. A willingness to learn all the used techniques, including molecular techniques, microscopy, and/or programming, is expected.
