Offer Description

Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Rodent Research Technician to join our team.
 

Work Plan:

- Rodent care and husbandry routine procedures, including cage changing, breedings, weanings and minor animal procedures only after adequate training and guidance;

- Maintenance of accurate databases of technical routines and tasks, and animal procedures and usage;

- Maintenance of accurate databases and inventories of consumables and equipment;

- Clean, organize and sanitize rooms and equipment of the CF-Vivarium, according to strict established procedures of the CF Animal Program;

- Care for maintenance and proper function of equipment, rooms, products and materials relevant for proper functioning of the CF-Vivarium and its Animal Program;

- Wash and sterilize cages, water bottles and other rodent husbandry related materials;

- Other tasks relevant for the maintenance and development of high scientific and animal welfare standards of the Vivarium of the Champalimaud

-This is a fulltime position with occasional periods of high demand, requiring effective time management.

- Postholder will be asked to prioritize efficiently and multitask, without compromising attention to detail.

- The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, efficient, science-driven and a team worker.

- A careful eye for detail and strong logical skills are also required.

- Candidates must be comfortable with the English language.

 

Specific Requirements

- Having a personal animal experimentation license and prior experience in a rodent facility/research environment is most preferable.

- Proven experience in similar tasks will also be valued.

Eligibility criteria

National, foreign or stateless candidates with relevant technical training and/or professional experience in engineering, audiovisual/media technology, technical production, electronics, computer systems, interactive installations or related areas, and a professional profile appropriate to the activities described in this call, are eligible to apply. Practical experience and demonstrated ownership of complex technical systems will be given substantial consideration.

Selection process

- Candidates will be screened to determine eligibility based on minimum qualifications listed in call.

- Candidates meeting minimum requirements will be scored according to the required application materials:

i. CV 60% weighting, motivation letter 40% weighing.
ii. When tied, top 3 candidates will be interviewed (in person, or remotely). The result of the interview is then the sole evaluation. If no tie, holding of interviews at the discretion of the Evaluation Committee.
iii. Interviews may be conducted in September 2026.
c. If provided, and if shortlisted, candidates’ referees may be contacted and may count towards evaluation.

Notification of results

All candidates will receive a receipt of acknowledgment within 7-10 business days. The highest scoring candidate will be notified by email or telephone. All other candidates will be notified solely by email of the final outcome of the recruitment process. After being notified, candidates will have 10 working days to present a claim for redress by email (careers@research.fchampalimaud.org). If no claim is received by the Champalimaud Foundation, the Evaluation Committee ́s decision will become definitive.
