Characterisation of tumour immune infiltrates in rectal and pancreatic cancers

In recent years, a large body of data has demonstrated that intra-tumoural immune infiltration can deeply influence the outcome of cancer patients, and this has led to the development of immunotherapy as an effective approach for specific tumor types. The goal of this project is to study the tumor immune response to identify prognostic and predictive signatures. By using multispectral immunofluorescence, we will describe which type of immune cells are present in the tumor infiltrates and where they are located (intra-tumoural versus periphery of tumor). This project is being performed in collaboration with the Digestive Unit of the CCC and the Immunotherapy Programme of the Champalimaud Foundation.
