From enzyme catalysis to ecosystems dynamics, biology is riddled with competition. DNA sequences compete for transcription factor binding to be expressed, cells in communities often compete for resources, pathogens compete against host immune systems, and on a larger scale, organisms compete against each other for limited resources in their environment.
The Symposium of Occam’s Beard is a celebration of creativity in science, though not necessarily in the way you would expect…
At this symposium, scientists from varying backgrounds will present real data interpreted with complete disregard for science’s most cutting principle: Occam’s Razor.
Join us for an afternoon of hilarious talks, quizzes and a very serious competition, and discover how silly science can be without critical thought.
Join us at the II Sciencecalifragilistic Symposium!
The celebratory symposium of the second edition of Sciencecalifragilistic, a CNP science education project, funded by Ciência Viva.
The programme of this symposium includes short presentations by CNP researchers and Sciencecalifragilistic students, as well as a poster session, where students will showcase their research projects.
We are bringing together researchers working on a broad range of areas in social behavior, including social neuroscience, psychology, sociology, behavioral ecology and anthropology.
This year’s program includes talks by distinguished invited speakers and talks selected from abstracts and three poster sessions with the most recent results of ongoing research around the world.
We are looking forward to a lively and stimulating scientific meeting, and we hope that you will join us.
