A conference to promote dialogue and explore every stage of the breast cancer journey

‘Breast Cancer 360º: From Prevention to Longevity’, opened with Leonor Beleza, President of the CF, highlighting the importance of addressing not only the disease itself, but also the uncertainty and concerns experienced by people facing a diagnosis or the possibility of developing breast cancer. Prevention and longevity emerged as key themes, reflecting the need to help people live well before, during and beyond treatment.

Surgery is often the main treatment for pancreatic cancer and for several other pancreatic conditions. It is also one of the most complex surgical operations in medicine. A particularly feared complication afterwards is internal bleeding, known as postpancreatectomy haemorrhage. Since 2007, surgeons worldwide have graded these bleeds with an international system. It combines three factors: when the bleeding starts, where it happens and how severe it seems.

The Day Hospital is a place where treatment meets compassion. 

Here, patients receive systemic treatments, namely chemotherapy, in an environment designed to promote comfort, privacy and reassurance.

Individual treatment booths allow family members to be present, creating moments of support throughout the care journey.

The Champalimaud Foundation today announced the acquisition of a portfolio of T-cell receptor (TCR) programs, platform technologies, and associated assets from Medigene Immunotherapies GmbH, together with the execution of an exclusive license agreement with Helmholtz Munich for key chimeric co-stimulatory receptor technologies.

Caring for patients is one of the Champalimaud Foundation’s core purposes, and the Radiotherapy Service supports that mission every day. 

In a highly controlled environment, precise doses of radiation are targeted to treat different types of cancer. 

Behind this precision is a dedicated team of specialised doctors, physicists, nurses and technicians, working together to ensure each treatment is both safe and effective.

A synergy in advanced therapies

Signed in Rome on 28 April, the agreement combines the Champalimaud Foundation’s expertise in adult oncology with Bambino Gesù’s recognised leadership in paediatric oncology and cell therapies. This synergy strengthens the link between research and clinical practice throughout the translational medicine pathway.

The symposium will bring together national and international experts to explore the dynamic evolution of the field, with a special focus on the close collaboration between radiology and surgery.

Diagnostic and interventional radiology are currently undergoing remarkable transformation. New imaging methodologies are redefining precision and diagnostic capability, achieving unprecedented levels of accuracy and clinical impact. Innovations such as photon-counting CT technology and ultra-fast MRI protocols are rapidly expanding the horizons of medical imaging.
